**Missed Opportunity**
So I went to the gym today with hopes to see Mike... well, I saw him alright... AFTER my class was done! (And I lost my nerve to ask him out as I was on my way out and he was on his way in!!! :? )
I forgot which class he normally attends and I accidentally went to the early class, rather than the late one.
Booo Hooo!
I'm kicking myself right now.
**Uncontrollable tears**
What the heck? I wasn't upset about anything this morning.
Was it because of the wind?
**2 drinks, 1 too many**
We had a "Farewell" lunch for the summer students today. It always feels strange not being at the gym at noon hour...
I decided to indulge and had a couple of Shmirnoff Twisted bevvies... I regret the second one. I got back to the office and I could have fallen FAST asleep! Like I mean, seriously!!! Right on my desk!!!
DAMN... that's the last time I have alcoholic bevvies mid day!
**I can't wake up**
I just can't seem to get up with my alarm. I hit snooze about 10 times every morning! (granted, I only have a 4 minute snooze) ... but still, that's 40 minutes of snoozing!!!
I don't even DARE set my alarm for when I need to be up anymore. If I did, I'd always be an HOUR late!
Is this a condition? Do any of you have the same problem? How can I kick this???
(FYI ...my bed isn't even that comfy, it's a futon that I've had for about 5 years now!!)
**back in junior high**
I feel like a teenager.
I just asked one of my friends if a guy she knows is single.
She's like, "I don't know... I'll find out and get back to you."
Am I a chicken or what? :?
**Monday, Monday!**
Not much to report since last blog.
I finally got a hold of my flooring guy, Doug. He says he'll be able to finish my fireplace on Wednesday. Right now, the fireplace has a "distressed" look. (it's minus tile AND gyproc... lovely!)
It'll be so nice once it's all done :)
In perspective though, this wait has been bearable compared to the carpet fiasco!!!!
My vacation is quickly approaching! I'm heading out to sunny Nanaimo to visit my sister, her hubby, Ken, and my niece Paige and nephew Nolan! It'll be so nice to get out of this place for a bit! I totally need a BREAK from it all!!!
One week of nothing to worry about except "what's for supper"! Ahhhhh
**more Home renos**
Tried to wake up early today, but considering I was up till 1am chatting with KreativeKat... that just wasn't in the cards.
I got up at 12pm. :? he he
I went to the Home Depot. Man, I hate that place! It's always so busy and there's never anyone around to help me! (And Lord knows, I need LOTS of help!!! ) So, I mosey over to good 'ol Walmart, where I know where everything is and I know what I want. I got some curtains for my bedroom, a new (smaller) ironing board (maybe this one will actually get used!), some faux wood blinds for the front and back door (hopefully they fit!) and some soda! (I know, I should stop!!!! It's so good though!)
I came home and reassembled the blinds that were originally up in my bedroom, screwed them up and put the new curtain up! I need to do some custom work to the curtain though (one panel is 84" long, and I need two panels ~35" long... Good thing I know how to sew! :) ) I will take pics when the job is complete!
Hope you are having as nice a weekend as I am! :D
**43km really hurts!**
Today was my ride with Marc... we did Little Elbow Loop. (Let me tell ya, the word "little" really shouldn't be in the name! How deceiving!) It's a 43 kilometer loop (for my American friends, that's 26.7 miles) Hardly little.
My ass* gave out WAY before my leg muscles did! OUCH!
I don't know why my ass got so sore, I mean when I spin, I spin very often without a pad!!!
(*and when I say ass, I really mean "the other area"! :? )
I'm gonna try not to sit down for a while. Sleep it is. :)
**seven day weekend?**
...I wish! It's supposed to be +25oC both days this weekend! GAWD, where has summer been??
It's finally decided to join us for a few days.
I need some good sleep... I'm exhausted! I've worked out almost 6 days this week. :? My body needs a nice hot bath and a good 10 hour sleep! :P
**Concert Re-cap**

This was me pre Def Leppard concert.
(Don't worry, I changed the red bra for a black one before I left... however, the white trash look wouldn't have phased anyone at the concert, I have no doubt! )
The concert was ok, not like I'm a huge Def Lep fan... but they had a few catchy tunes back in the day. They did play my fave "Let's get Rocked!" and the last song of the encore was "Pour some sugar on me"... I only recognized 3 other songs "Hysteria", "Animal" and "Rocket". And it's been SOOOO long I couldn't even remember the words! :? At one point I even remember thinking, "How the hell did we used to dance to this stuff?" (All I know now is how to dance to hip-hop and techno. he he)
Still, it was good to see a live band.
Now I have leverage to get Jenn to come to one of my favorite groups when they hit town :P
**Def Leppard**
** Eye candy you can play with! :)**
Today was a hard day at the gym... TKO class. I decided to push myself extra hard and add a THIRD set of stairs into my normal 2 set routine. I needed that!
Not only that, but the class was so packed we had to partner up for the circuit.
I've been eyeing this guy (apparently his name is Mike) for some time now. He's not my usual type (looks like a BAD BOY to me... blonde disheveled hair, earrings, tattoos... HOT! LOL He once tried to beat me down the stairs, and managed to trip me! :o What a way to impress a girl :? ) Anyways, as soon as the instructor mentioned "partners", he came right up beside me. Once she was done her schpeal, I asked him to be my partner. I noticed him smirk then say, "Ok!" (I was on to his little game!! )
So, he really pushed me through the circuit, especially the stairs! I don't think I could have done all 3 sets if "Mike" wasn't my partner.
Gotta love when you get to play with the eye candy! :P
Dinner Date :)
Guess who had a dinner date last night? :P Yup, ME!!!
I was chatting with Marc on MSN and I made a comment that I had to go make supper then organize my place some more. He made the suggestion that he would come over to help me organize my place if I'd like. So I invited him to come over and have dinner with me, with the disclaimer that I'd put him to work after. LOL He came by and I made my Greek Chicken and Veggies dish. (I made this dish for my ex once, and he hated it, and told me to cook the veggies! Since he insulted this dish, I am totally self consious of making it for others) Apparently Marc likes fresh veggies, cause he ate it without complaint and even said "Thank You" after. :) (I miss having someone respectful around!!!)
So, Marc helped me put all my closet doors back on the hinges, and replace the spare room screen and put the blind back up. I think he enjoyed being useful to me! I really appreciated all his help! I definitely owe him something!!!
We are planning on biking Elbow loop on Saturday. (Last saturday we rode Sulphur Springs trail, which is 15km long) Elbow loop is 42km! :? Are we nuts??? Does he want to kill me? Or does he just want to spend the entire day with me? :) Cause we are definitely going to have to pack a lunch and a couple of snacks for that ride!!! Might take us 3-4 hours to ride the entire loop, I think.
I better start training now!
pizza time :)
Last night was all about vegging out and being girlie. Bryanne came over and we just hung out! (It's great to have a friend living so close! My new place is literally a 3 minute car ride away. ... probably a 10 minute bike ride! :) )
We ordered Panago and had a good laugh at the interesting profiles of people I've met from Lava Life (including my own!) It's so funny how people that have never on-line dated are so interested in logging in as me to just "have a look!" ...Like rubber-neckers at the scene of a hi-way accident! lol
So, I chatted with Marc last night. We are planning on going blading AND biking this next weekend, as the weather is supposed to be kick-ass!!! (And the "going biking as well as for a roller blade" was HIS idea. :) ) We'll see how it goes. I'm sure we'll have fun again, like we did last weekend... eventhough he's already made fun or my archaic roller blades. :( (I know, I need new ones BADLY!!!) Was thinking of buying some K2's ... any roller bladers out there? Is that the best brand out there???
NAME THAT SUV

My car needs a name. My sister used to have a little white Toyota Tercel that she named Holly, which I thought was cute.
Mine needs a name too! What do you think a good name would be for a BLACK HONDA ELEMENT?
(Shaft, perhaps? LOL ... can ya dig it? )
just what I needed
Eventhough it started off with all the drama, this past weekend was just what I needed.
I spent Saturday night with Jenn. (She can be like Monica from Friends... she loves to clean and organize!) She helped me organize my kitchen and living room...
still a ways to go, but getting there! (I have A LOT of crap, and I have done a SERIOUS full house clean sweep this time... even the SHOES! :? )
Sunday morning I went biking with Marc... a guy I met on-line. He was really awesome! We had fun and he totally waited for me whenever I was sucking wind! lol He and I got back to the parking lot STARVING, and so I asked him if he wanted to go for food in Bragg Creek. He mentioned that he made and brought some Thai Chicken wraps for lunch. So when we got back to the Element, we ravaged them!!! They were so good! (A guy that can cook makes me a very happy girl! :) ) So we came back to the city, and I invited him in for a drink. We talked for another 3 hours! It was really nice! A refreshing change from the usual losers I meet! I can't believe he's only 24. He's quite a cutie too!!! Lucky me! :P
Last night I went and got groceries and went to bed late.
I'm a little tired today, but hey, it's all good!!! :D
the ladies night that turned ugly!
 Why is it that you can't get 4 women in one place together and not have some sort of DRAMA come of the situation?
I decided (with another single friend of mine, Cindy) to go out on Friday. Cindy has never met Jenn in person, only on-line, so it was a great time for them to meet also! And I figured I'd give Bryanne a call also, the more the merrier, right? :?
... or maybe not MERRIER! :?
A ladies night, supposed to be about dancing and having fun quickly turned into a night all about hooking up! (GONG SHOW at it's finest!) There were a lot of underlying individua l agendas at this party... which always makes for an interesting time!
3 day rule
How long do you wait for a guy to call after he's asked you out on a date? Some people are telling me there's a "three day rule"... have you ever heard of this??? Like he has 3 days now to call me or my "Yes" becomes null and void. lol
What do you think? It's not like I'm super pumped for him to take me on a date... I'm not sure that he's really my type. I just don't want to play the part of the naive, single girl.
Me and my niece, Paige! We are such goofs!
Are you asking me out?
Yesterday was interesting. I had my orthodontist appointment at 5:30pm, followed by picking up some straggler mail at my OLD house, then the guy from the flooring company wanted to come by and do an "inspection" of the carpet job. Following that, Cindy was coming over to help me move some furniture around.
This is what happened... my teeth hurt like crazy today. My orthodontist changed my archwire to a thicker square wire, and DAMN does this thing have force to it!
I went to my old house to pick up some mail that was missed by the Canada Post, and all I can say is eventhough I didn't have much, I liked the decor in the place better when it was MY place! It even smelled better! lol Oh well... I've moved on, and I'm glad they are really enjoying the place! :D
I got home at 6:30 and Todd from the flooring company came by to do the inspection. He came downstairs and checked out the seams and the stairs... he then told me how to care for my carpet. It was funny the way he talked about carpet like it was a living thing that needed grooming! lol We then proceeded upstairs to the door where he ASKED ME ON A DATE! :P I was kinda shocked, because he said "Since the day you walked into the store I thought you were absolutely gorgeous!" :D (and I forgot men actually do ask women out on dates and that there's not always a monitor between the two of us! LOL) So I said, "Ya sure!"
(the way I look at it, is any guy that's got the balls enough to ask a girl out face-to-face deserves to take her out!!! Men are chicken shits these days!) It's funny cause the first time I ever met Todd was on the phone when I freaked out about my carpet! LOL He must like the bitchy ones!!! :?
Then Cindy came over, and she was a lot of help! We rearranged my bedroom, and brought all the big things that needed to be brought downstairs down where they belong. I feel much better about my condo these days. It's really starting to take shape!!! I'm nearing the picture hanging phase! :D
New picture
no help = no carpet pictures
I was supposed to have a friend come over last night and help me put my bed together. Well, she emailed me at 4:30pm yesterday to tell me she had made "other" plans, and proceeded to reschedule to help me move for Thursday, when I already have an engagement! (Not to mention this means 2 more nights of me sleeping on the floor. :( ) I thought people were always willing to help if asked... this is clearly NOT the case. And unfortunately, for this job I NEED another set of hands, otherwise I'd just buck up and do it myself!
:!: How frustrated am I? :!:
However, I did manage to get my TV set up yesterday as well as set up and move the coffee table and end tables around the living room. The living room is clearing out! You can actually see the laminate again! :)
I didn't make that cabuchon like I talked about in my last post... I got hung up on MSN last night. I should have taken today off work, just to play with my beads and for some time to set up my condo.
Oh well... I guess work and the gym were calling me. :?
are you having a Happy Hump day?
nothing to report
I am really inspired to bead now... I might make a cabuchon tonight, like KreativeKat has... See below. They look so gorgeous!
the REAL carpet Day, and the shortest date ever
So, yes... my carpet pains are OVER, and I've FINALLY got a completely finished basement! :) (Well, MOSTLY finished... I still need a few door replaced, and some baseboards replaced... but the carpet is in and it looks and feels LOVELY! (Pics to come, don't you worry your pretty little heads!)
In other news, I went on a date last night... with a guy named Jason. He is 33, and I thought he was going to turn out to be a good guy and nice to be with. NOPE. He bashed my new Element (verbally, not physically), rolled his eyes at me on more than one occassion, and brought his dog on our walk (basically, he needed to take his dog on a walk anyways, and decided to kill 2 birds with one stone, and invite me along. How rude!) THEN, when I asked him to go for something to eat, he said "Umm... actually, I have to go to work tonight." (It was SUNDAY night!!! )
Our date lasted one hour... maybe less.
So, I called my friend Jenn to tell her I was on my way home (at 7:00pm!!??) and she invited me on her date with her new friend, Mike. He was super nice and even paid for BOTH of our meals!
What a gentleman. (unlike my original date.)
WHERE DO THESE MEN COME FROM??? And why do they gravitate to me???
testing the alarm
well, that's one way to test out your smoke detector... forget the packaging material for the stove inside it, and pre-heat the oven to 425oC!!! :o
Smoke, smoke, smoke!
(It's a good thing I'm cute, cause DAMN I can be DUuuMB some times! )
Carpet day!
I've been waiting for this carpet for a while!
I'll go out and buy some new batteries, I'm sick of not taking pictures of everything!
UPDATE: Installers are running behind... they won't be back in Calgary till 1 or 2pm. Figures
If I get carpet in my condo by this weekend's end... I think I'll literally have a heart attack!!!
UPDATE #2: The installers aren't coming till tomorrow.
See, I told you... GONG SHOW!
++ A story only a single girl could tell
...it's funny how being at a certain place at a certain time can create certain results.
Things just seem to happen to allow it all to fall right into place.
Ok, so here's the story...
I've been on-line dating for some time now, with definite mixed results. (Unfortunately more on the negative side... but just setting the stage.) Usually what you do if you meet someone you kinda like, you give them your MSN email address, and you can chat further at your leisure on MSN chat, exchange numbers, maybe plan a date, if all goes well.
So, I met this guy that kinda interested me a long time ago (I'll call him "Drake")... but I never pursued meeting him, because I just wasn't sure about his intentions. Lately we've been chatting again, and even just Wednesday I finally gave him my # and we had an hour long conversation.
Yesterday I taught my beaded bead class (7 students) from 7 to 9pm and afterwards I ran off to see my girls at the Met. (The Met is a restaurant/lounge downtown) I had to find parking, so I spent about 10 minutes driving around and around (anyone who knows Calgary's downtown knows what I'm talking about, so many one ways!) looking for a free parking spot. Alas, my new ride is too big to fit in any of the empty spots, so I say "Screw it" and drive back to the Impark parking lot across from Ceilie's Irish Pub. (About a 2 block walk)
I get out and go to the dispenser to buy my ticket, and a guy walks up behind me and asks "How much is it for the night?"... I took one look at him... and I was like "Uhhhhmmm... Duhhhh..." lol It was HIM! DRAKE! He took another look at me and said "No shit!"... kinda in a bit of disbelief. What are the chances that we meet at the same parking lot, buying our tickets at the same time??? I said "Fancy meeting you here!" He proceeded to ask me where I was going, and when I mentioned that we were going to end up at Ceilie's. He said "Oh, I'm supposed to be going there myself, maybe I'll see you there!"
Well, we went to Ceilies... I never saw him there. That was ok though.
I had to laugh about the whole thing. :)
He turns out to be much cuter in real life!
++ time to unwind
OK, I'm feeling better... seems like my stress levels go in rollercoaster ups and downs these days. Weird.
Tonight I'm going out with the girls from my old job! We are supposed to be going out for dinner then to the bar, but I'm going to have to miss dinner :( because I have to teach one of my beading classes tonight till 9pm. We've been meaning to do this for a while, hopefully everyone shows up and we all have fun!
I'm going to attempt to sleep at my condo tonight... hopefully everything works for me and I'm able to get a good sleep! I'll be at least 30 minutes closer to work! YAY :D
++ yoga

... Maybe I need to start doing Yoga! Does it really relieve stress?
pathetic
Yup... that's how I feel today. :(
I cried for a good hour last night. I have dark rings around my puffy eyes, what an attractive look! I hate when these feelings come over me.
(As loved as I know I am, by my family and friends... I can't help but feel like I'll never be happy.)
When will God throw me a fricken bone???
long time, no blog!
So, this past weekend was a whirlwind, but just what the doctor ordered!
I forgot how much fun my family can be, and it was great to see my niece and nephew!!! They are so much fun and such great kids! (Nolan barely cries, he fusses, but that is easy to console!)
And my sister and brother-in-law validated that I made a good decision in buying my Honda Element... they LOVED it, and think it's a very good fit for me! I totally agree, but was getting a lot of negative feedback from people in Alberta. Glad to know I'm ahead of my time for these parts! (I like to be original, hate to blend in with the crowd too much!)
I am still waiting to hear about my carpet. I called the "manager" today to see why he hasn't called me back regarding my order, and I got his voice mail... and I'm still waiting for him to return my call!!! If he blows me off ONE more day, that's it! I'm taking my business ELSEWHERE! This has been an absolute GONG SHOW!
We got new spin bikes at my gym! They are going to take a bit of getting used too... the tension dial is not very sensitive, so it takes a lot of turns to get more tension on the bike... this is going to change the way I teach my classes a lot! I'll have to attend as many classes as I can this next week, to see how the other instructors work around it.
Starting the weekend early
I have so many things to do in the next few days.
This afternoon, I have to get to my condo and wait for both the Shaw guy and my new appliances to arrive! After that I'm going to head to the flooring showroom and select some new carpet that can be installed this weekend! (HOPEFULLY!!!) Then I've got to pack my bags and head out to Leduc to see my family and sister! (She came home to visit for a week! with her hubby and her 2 kids! YAY!!!) Then Saturday is my cousin's wedding in Red Deer. (I'm sure I'll just stay in a hotel room for the night, and drive back to Calgary on Sunday) ...Jenn was going to come with me, but when I decided to leave for the wedding a day early she declined. Oh well, I'm used to driving alone and going to weddings alone! (Eventhough I don't always like it!!!)
I've been feeling really shitty about my singleness lately! I don't understand why I haven't even at least had a steady supply of dates like I used to. I should ask guys out more!
Why do the women have to do the work these days? Are men intimidated by me?
Carpetless in Calgary :(
I'm totally pissed off!!!
I ordered my carpet for my condo on July 14th... and it still hasn't arrived. I spoke to the salesman from the flooring company, and he now tells me the carpet won't be leaving Georgia (apparently where the distributor is from) until August 5th!!!! What the hell??? I was told the carpet would take 7 buisness days to arrive from the DAY I paid for it. Well, that is obviously NOT the case. Now I feel like I'm being walked all over because the flooring company has ALL my money (for the carpet and underpad) and I'm STILL CARPETLESS in my condo.
I tried to back out, but the flooring salesman says "Unfortunately, since this order has already been put through there is nothing I can do."
What do you mean??? I'm the customer and I'm PISSED right off... DO SOMETHING, ANYTHING to make me happy!!!!
This condo has been nothing but a big hassle. I should have never moved!
My family is the best though!
I forgot to say, in my last blog, that my family is the BEST!
They put up with my ragging, and whining all day on Friday, when I was stressed out and frustrated about my move!
I know we were all tired, hot and hungry but thank you all (Mom, Dad Josh and Jeff) for all your hard work and support! I'm really thankful to have such a wonderful family!
I really have to make this up to you all... what do you want? (Yikes... I might just be openning up a can of worms here! :? )
the move...
It went ok. I'm all out of my house now... we managed to get everything out of my house and into my condo in one day! It was a gong show for a long time as my help (my family) didn't show up till 12 noon and I only had the Uhaul truck till 6pm.
I am still not living in my new place. The floor is not finished and I still do not have carpets laid in my bedroom!
I'm lucky I have a friend like Jenn that I can stay with for a few days.
