Real Estate

05.31.05 (10:15 am)   [edit]

I am still seriously thinking about selling my house and moving into a condo.  I need the lifestyle change, as this house is literally draining the life out of me!

This condo I've been in, and it is absolutely beautiful (the pictures on the MLS dite don't do it justice!)

I'm going to see this property on Wednseday... it's cheaper, and in the exact same neighbor hood.  With this condo, I could afford to get a new car too!  (With the top one, I doubt that very much!  :( )

The link to my pictures (a few of them) from the Lilac festival.  I had a BLAST, it was a gorgeous sunny day in Calgary today, perfect weather for strolling and people watching!  :)

Then tonight I looked at condos with Jenn... found one I absolutely LOVE!  What should I do?  Jump on it???  It's a steal of a deal for the amount I'd be getting, this place is in AMAZING shape, and the location is so perfect for me!!!  What should I do?  :?
(I'll sleep on it!)

New alternator... joy-o-joy

05.28.05 (6:13 pm)   [edit]

Well, I took Kennyboy and Goins advice, and I took my car in to get a new alternator.  (My dad could have fixed it EASILY, but unfortunately he's not around right now)  So I took my car in to Crappy tire (Canadian Tire, for those that aren't familiar with my slang  ) And the guy says... that'll be a $469.00 fix...
"What?  Oh, whatever, just fix the damn thing!" is my reply to that.

So, my car is now fixed (or so I think) and I wasted an enitre beautiful afternoon trying to find things to keep me busy.  I ended up at Home Outfitters looking for something for my sister, then I made my way to Winners where I proceeded to buy a pair of workout pants and a top for $60.00.  :?  I am weak when it comes to workout clothes...

Tomorrow I'm going to the Lilac Festival with Bonnie and her brother and his family.  It should be a good time, I've heard it's fun!  I will report back tomorrow on that.

Enjoy the sun!!!

Can't eat! Ugh!

05.27.05 (7:38 am)   [edit]

These damn braces are KILLING me!!!  I recently got an abbraision on my lower lip (due to one of the hooks rubbing my lip) and now it's infected, I think.  It's all white and puffy and hurts like a biotch.  I have tried to put wax over the brackets in that area to relieve the sore from being further aggrivated, but it still hurts when I chew :(
Back on the liquid diet?  Ugh...  Only good news to that is that I always loose weight!  (But seriously, I like to enjoy my food... this is getting ridiculous!)

My DAMN car is pissing me off ROYALLY!  This morning I'm half way to where I park and the damn battery light and the ((!)) light (attention?) comes on!  What the hell?  Does this mean my battery is going dead?  Someone who knows cars, please HELP ME!!!

... I returned a pair of Nike runners I bought on my shopping spree with Raeleen about a month ago... they just weren't what I expected.  I exchanged for a pair of Adidas... this is a picture of the style.  (mine are pink and black though):

You like?

I'm going out dancing tonight, with Bonnie! :D  We haven't picked a club yet... our only criteria is that it's someplace hip-hoppy and somewhere we've both never been before.  Should be easy enough to find a place like that, right?

green thumb? we'll see!

05.25.05 (8:53 pm)   [edit]

I have become a gardener!  lol  Well, no, not really... but tonight I started to Round Up my weeds again!  I only have a few now (as we sodded over the rest of the bastards!  LOL)  Fingers crossed that this Round Up crap works, it will sure save me a lot of time digging!

Here's those pics I forgot to post when I blogged about the sodding:
The view from my back door!
My brothers hard at work!
Just weeds... ewww!
(my brother Jeff made it into every picture... lucky guy :P )

"Rob and Amber get Married"!!!

Yup, well, that was me last night.  I have always been a big fan of Survivor, and Rob was one of my favorite contestants to watch on Survivor... I had to watch them get married!

Did anyone else watch?  It was all pretty nice!  I can only hope I marry into money to afford a shin-dig like that when I get married... Otherwise, I'm off to Vegas

..... what am I talking about?
Don't you need a groom to get married to???

events of the long weekend

05.23.05 (7:47 pm)   [edit]

Friday:
Went out after work for drinks with Bonnie.  We hopped around from Fuel, to the Met, to Melrose (for supper) and finally ended up at Steeps (for a tea).  It was nice to just chill with a friend over drinks... and I got to know a few things about Bonnie I didn't know... like she is ALSO allergic to cold, like me!  Isn't that weird?

Saturday:
My cousin Alison finally arrived at my place at 2:30am!  I was barely coherant to give her directions to my place, but she made it!  When I woke up, I went out to The Home Depot to rent a sod roller.  I got back and we raked and picked rocks for a couple of hours until the real man power (my parents and brothers) showed up.  We had the sod layed in 2 1/2 hours!  (Thanks again for all your help!!!!)  We ordered pizza when we were all done, then had a BBQ for supper.  Good times!

Sunday:
We woke up and started the watering all over again!  My parents left after lunch... so me and Alison went roller blading down by the Bow River.  It was a gorgeous sunny (but windy) day!  We got an eye full of candy too... hubba hubba!  Some guys were playing frisbee with their shirts off! :P
In the eveing my friend Jenn invited us over to her place for a BBQ... that was also fun and very yummy!  And afterwards we shot the shit and watched Napoleon Dynamite (stupidest movie EVER!)

Monday (today):
Alison's ride came to pick her up at 2:30pm.  I was sitting making earrings, Alison was snoozing on the couch.  After Alison left I took off on my roller blades for an hour!  (I'm loving that I can stop on my blades now :) )  I came home and made supper (Feta Chicken and Veggies) and finished wrapping a parcel that needs to be sent out to my sister!  (Jenny, I'll have that package out to ya tomorrow PROMISE!!!!!)

Now it's time for bed!  G' Night!
(I'll post pics of my yard soon!)

drinks tonight and a FULL HOUSE

05.20.05 (7:26 am)   [edit]

I really need to go out tonight so, Bonnie and I are going to go out for a few bevvies... maybe to The Met or Fuel. (I've never been to either place!)

This weekend is turning into a FULL house for me... I didn't really think about the logistics before I invited my whole FAMILY to stay over, then when my cousin said she was thinking about coming over, I thought, "What's one more?"  lol... so my house goes from 1 person, to 6 in a matter of a day...  ACK.  It's a good thing most of the time we will be outside.  (We are lying my sod this weekend... I'm actually looking forward to getting this job off of my "to do" list!)  It will be nice to have all the extra help, but I don't know how the cooking part will go. (Maybe Mom will do it :) )  I think when my parents show up I'll just say "Let's go get groceries!" because I don't have anything in the house to feed all of us!!!

Oh well... why stress?  I'm sure everything will go fine.

Update:  I just got an email from my CanFitPro trainer that I passed my exam (83%)!!!

WOOO HOOO!!!

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

ain't it funny...

05.19.05 (5:27 pm)   [edit]
how the day can go from GREAT to BLAH in no time flat!  :(

just what the Dr. ordered

05.19.05 (9:31 am)   [edit]

My exam went smashingly :D  I'm sure I made the grade!  (I need over 80% to pass!!!)  I'm so relieved that I don't have to study anymore!!!  Man, do I hate studying!!!  I am the BIGGEST procrastinator there is, I think I might have gotten about 6 hours of studying in for this test... aren't I terrible?

Oh well... I'm having a GREAT day today!!! :P
How are you doin'?

sex and the city

05.18.05 (8:45 am)   [edit]

My best friend told me my life is like "Sex and the City"... Hmmm... I really DON'T think so.  I can only WISH my love life was that exciting. :?

But then again, she's married... so I guess it's all relative.

the hip bone's connected to the...

05.17.05 (8:41 am)   [edit]

I have a Fitness theory exam tomorrow evening... I hate these tests.  They always mess me up!  I think I know what I'm talking about, but I sit down to write the test and I'm like "Did I study this?"  lol  I have never had an interest in learning about kinesiology, or biology, which is weird, considering I love fitness so much. :?

Wish me luck on my test! :)

little bit weird?

05.16.05 (2:00 pm)   [edit]
So, my date yesterday went ok, no sparks or anything crazy like that.

But this guy already called me at 7:15am this morning!  He left a voice mail to say "he missed me so much already" ... followed promptly by "just kidding... call me!" :?

If you could have only seen the look on my face!!!

... BTW, I stil haven't called him back.

Isn't that bizarre behaviour???

decent date but no sparks

05.15.05 (8:53 pm)   [edit]

So I went out with Terry tonight... he called me at 4:50 to see where I was (our date didn't start till 5!  lol)  I was running a little late (typical girl) so I said I was on my way.  We met at Limmericks, an Irish pub on Macleod Trail.  We sat outside on the non-smoking patio... that was super nice!  It was a balmy +22oC today, so the patio was the perfect place to sit and chat.  We had lots to talk about, but the chemistry was lacking.
However, he did ask to see me again on Friday... maybe a bike ride.  So, yeah if it's a bike ride, I'll go... but I don't really want to do a romantic date, like the movies or anything like that!
He had to leave and head to Creston (he drives a truck) then to Edmonton and back to Calgary... so he said he'd call me mid-week and see what I'm up to.  (Sounds like this guy is too busy for a gf anyways... he's never home.)  :?

On other news, today was another GORGEOUS day.  I went for that bike ride with L.  and we ended up getting lost in Bowness!  LOL  Next time, I'll bring a map!
Oh well, we got a good 18km ride in...

Can't complain about the exercise I got this weekend :D

Beautiful DAY!!!

05.14.05 (10:42 pm)   [edit]

It was a GORGEOUS almost PERFECT day today!

I went out rollerblading with D.,P.,B., and H.  So much fun!  I even know how to stop now :D  Always a good thing when there are hills involved!

Jenny, you'll be happy to know that your "rollerblades" are still going strong... however, I think this season I will splurge for a new pair of K2's :)  (Anyone else have a pair?  They look like wicked blades!!!)

Anyways, my date for tomorrow (Terry) sent me 3 text messages tonight (I'd reply and he'd message back), and even called to confirm our date for tomorrow night... Should I be worried?  Or is this a good sign?  A guy that actually is excited to see me!  WOW... this is a first.

Sunny Day

05.14.05 (8:04 am)   [edit]

I got woke up super early by a call from my friend S.  She's in town and had to find out if anyone was looking for her.  (She's been in Winnipeg for the past 2 weeks on a course.)  No... no one has called here looking for you, I told her.  (I think she was hoping that her EX would be looking for her, as she spent the night in Calgary, ad she was supposed to be home today... Maybe looking to make her ex jealous, or something)
Nope S... looks like he's over you too!!!

As for me, I've decided to give "the dad" a date.  We chatted on MSN last night (with webcam) and there was just something about his smile... I think he's a really nice guy!  However, I'm not getting involved with the whole kids and EX-wife thing unless I really like this guy.  Right now, I just need to go out on some dates... so I'm going! :)
He seemed genuinely excited to meet me so that felt nice!  I'll definitely keep you posted on any happenings with him....
(BTW, his name is Terry and he's 34.)

I really want to get out on my bike today, it's a gorgeous day!!!!  I should really finish studying for my Fitness Theory exam that I have next week though... maybe I'll go study in a park!  Nice days like this always give me cabin fever!
But I'm biking tomorrow for sure, with L. and J.!  :D

quiz

05.13.05 (2:04 pm)   [edit]

This was the results of my quiz "The keys to my heart":

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when your partner is patient and never willing to give up on you.

You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was ruthless, cold-blooded, and sarcastic.

Your ideal relationship is comforting. You crave a relationship where you always feel warmth and love.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage something you've always wanted... though you haven't really thought about it.

In this moment, you think of love as something you thirst for. You'll do anything for love, but you won't fall for it easily.*

* this one could not be MORE true!!!

the problem is this...

05.13.05 (7:21 am)   [edit]

An ex-wife and 2 kids  ... that's the problem with my most recent "potential" date. :(  I was actually getting pumped to meet him!  But now... I think "WHY?  I don't see myself being with a guy whose had a previous "family".
Arggggggg... why is dating so difficult? :(

PS... my fish is not dead yet, but mostly dead :(  He's not going to make it, he hasn't eaten in days, and his breathing is very, very slow :(

PSS... I think I DO need a cat!

I killed my fish!

05.12.05 (7:40 am)   [edit]

:( This week just gets better, doesn't it :(

I decided it was about time to clean Angelo's tank the other day...  So I did. I didn't think I did anything unusual... But for the past day he's been acting strange.  (ie: wedging himself in between the plant and the glass, and not moving.)  Yesterday morning I tapped the glass to see if he was alright, he did move out of that spot, but only to lye still on the bottom...  He was still breathing so I figured he was just tired.  But then this morning, I go to feed him and he's still wedged there... barely breathing.  I tapped the glass to try and make him squirm out off the plant, but it was like he had no energy to get out.  So I used a spoon to move the plant away... he used ALL the energy he had left to swim to the top get a breath or two of air... only to sink to the bottom, and lye there, on his side.  :(  NOT A GOOD SIGN!

I'm sure he'll be dead by the time I get home today... that makes me sad. :( :( :(

What a week!

crying over spilt soya sauce?

05.11.05 (8:09 pm)   [edit]

Yes... I'm an emotional retard!  Sue me!

I decided to pick up some more Kit Kat bars (maybe that was the problem!?) after work today, so I made my way to Safeway.  I picked up some odds and ends that I noticed I forgot to get after my last visit to get groceries!  (I'm loosing my mind! I should really write a list next time!)  So, I'm down the soya sauce isle and notice that my favorite soya sauce (Red Dragon Dark Soy) is on special, for a dollar off!  I decide to stock up, and buy two bottles... I'll be sure to use them both.

Well, all is good, until I'm walking back to my car (through the mall).  I'm still wearing my heels from work, so I'm walking a little more ackwardly than usual.  Suddenly I feel a shift in the heavy bag, the one with the bottles in it... the fucker breaks!  Dark soya sauce all over the mall floor!  It looked like a big pool of oil!  How embarrasing!  AHHH...   I thought about the kids that might be coming by, so I tried to pick up the glass... then a custodian came by and helped me with a broom.  I ran out of there...

Fuck, so much for saving a few bucks on buying 2 bottles of the shit!
(As you can tell, I'm still a little frazzled by the experience!)  When I did get out to my car, I started tearing up... I just feel like stupid things are happening to me, which is not the way I roll.

Let's hope now that Wednesday "Hump" day is over I will get my life back!

Feeling duuuummb!

05.09.05 (9:47 pm)   [edit]

"What? Dipps?" :?

Yeah, that's just about how smart I feel right now.
I bought groceries today, and I was talking on the phone as I put them away...  I got myself some Kit Kat bars (as a treat, they were on $ale).  I vaguely remember taking them out of the bag, but do you think I can remember where I stashed them?
Sh*t... stupid short term memory!

I've looked everywhere in my kitchen, and can't find anything that resembles chocolate and wafer anywhere!
Then where could they be???

Mendhi

05.08.05 (1:27 pm)   [edit]

East Indian sari's are so beautiful!  As is the cultural tradition of henna dying the skin for auspicious occasions, like weddings and such (which they refer to as Mendhi.)

I attended a good friend of mine's wedding this weekend.  She is East Indian (from East Africa) and all I can say is wow!  I loved the sari's that the women wore...  and I was lucky enough to get to experience the henna dying on my own skin.  (Like a temporary tattoo :) ...Henna is a natural dye, comprised of ground leaves and highly pigmented natural elements.)

Here are some pics.

Me and the bride... see her Mendhi!

My Mendhi, before I went to bed.

normal?

05.06.05 (7:57 am)   [edit]

I know you are all waiting with baited breath how my date with Ryan went.  Well, it went well!  :D  and yes, he's normal... well, quasi-normal!  (As normal as a fitness/nutrition junkie can be!  ...actually, this guy admitted that he weighs himself 4 times a day :?)
He's a bit of a pretty boy.  Last night he had his hair perfectly coiffed (each spike in it's place) and was wearing some designer jeans and shoes.  He looked good, but maybe too good!  (A guy that looks more manicured than his woman... there's a problem there!)

We had good conversation, however.  We talked biking, nutrition, the gym... all the things that I know a little something about!   So maybe the chemistry wasn't totally there, but at least we had a lot in common.

I think I will take him up on a second date, if he asks... I would love to get out on a bike with him.  I love biking dates! :)  I bet he could teach me a thing or two!

date

05.05.05 (8:26 am)   [edit]

I'm going for, what was initially coffee, which has now turned into a drink tonight with a guy I met on-line.

His name is Ryan, and he's a roadie :)  ...that means he bikes, YAY!  I'm pretty sure we'll get along.  And he's cute too, WOOT!

(I've been a deprived girl lately...
let's hope I don't claw him up too badly )

going DIGITAL

05.03.05 (8:49 am)   [edit]

I get my SHAW digital phone hooked up today!  Now, I get UNLIMITED long distance to ANYWHERE in Canada AND the US!  :D

I'm gonna LOVE my new phone plan!!!

So friends, if you want a call from me,
leave me your numbers

Update:  FYI....  those of you with a security system (like I have) might want to look into if it your alarm will still be effective once you switch over to a digital phone line.
The alarm companies do not recommend a digital phone line as the alarm technology was not created work on a digital line.  :?
So where does this leave me???   Faack.

missing the flip

05.02.05 (7:34 am)   [edit]

I think I need to cut my hair short again.
I miss my flippy self. :(

What do you think?  Here's a pic of me with the short flip:

Sunday Sleep-in!

05.01.05 (2:49 pm)   [edit]

Ahhhh... I LOVE sleep!  Don't you???It's something that your body needs, just like food, water and air.  If you deprive your body of sleep, you could be doing it a disservice.  If you ever wondered why you've hit a plateau in your exercise regime, or feel like you are just not  100% your best... try getting to bed earlier at night.  That might help!  (I know, I know... easier said than done! :?)

Ladies night last night was awesome!!!  We went to the "W", it was D, B, S and myself.  We danced a lot, met up with a couple of D's friends... one of which really took a liking to S.  That was ok, because he kept buying us (me and S) drinks all night!  he he... the power of the P!  LOL

We left the bar at 1:30am and were hungry so we headed to Singapore Sam's... this place was such a blast!  It's the party AFTER the party!  It was great!!!  We had ginger beef, rice, veggies, mmmm.... so yummy!  (And I don't even like Chinese food!  LOL)
The only thing that kinda turned out stomaches while we were at the restaurant... there was this MILF dancing beside her chair... I mean HARDCORE dancing, like she forgot she had left the bar or something... who decided to try amateur lap dancing with some random guy sitting at another table... and get this... her friends didn't even try to stop her, they actually sat there taking pictures of the whole thing!!!  OMG, that was terrrible!  (but sure made for a story to tell!!!)
As we were finishing up our meal, some guys had made their way in and sat beside us at our table... they were cute and funny.  Craig and Todd.  But of course, they were both ENGINEERS!  (I have this joke, about men in Calgary.  That they are either married or engineers!  LOL... if you aren't familiar with the engineer, they typically have interesting personalities!!!)  Anyways, we chatted with them for probably a half an hour, till their food came... so we left.

Diane drove us home... then S got a call from Dave (her "friend" who lives here in Calgary) so she took off to his place, leaving me home alone.  Ahhh... my bed looked so good once I got up to my bedroom.  I hit the pillow and didn't wake up till 2:00pm (when S called).  (Like I said, I heart sleep :) )
