more biking, more bugs!
Bowmont... I think I have conquered you!!!
With all this beautiful fall weather, I couldn't help myself; Last night I HAD to take my bike out for another ride. I rode one of my nemesis trails "Bowmont" (aka Sideshow Bob) I did bring my camera but didn't DL the pictures yet.. .will post them once I get around to it!
The ride started off great... beautiful sunset in the distance...

perfect temperature for exercise, I even felt ON last night... but then, the bugs came out!
I'm a hardcore, it's all part of the deal, I guess.
On my way home I saw ANOTHER deer
... this time on the side of the road!!! Luckily it just stayed where it was, I was driving WAY to fast to stop for a deer that time!!! Guess it's that time of year: Hunting!
[line]
Jenny.... How about just more cow? LOL

biking at dusk can be hazardous to your health
Doe, a deer,
a female deer!
a female deer!
Met her and her boyfriend on the trail today! Yikes! I was barrel-assing (as Bryanne refers to going FAST) down this trail on the East side of the COP grounds... a trail I take at least once a week... but never this late in the day (around 7:45-8pm) and out in the distance are these shapes... I slow down (I hate slowing down on a sweet downhill section) and as I approach... the two figures jump off into the bushes. I saw their little white bums!!! They were either 2 nude tanned men who wore speedos all summer (white asses) or 2 deer. ...Since they RAN away, I will assume they were deer. ;)
I didn't want to take any chances (they might have had friends hiding that weren't as afraid of bikes as they were) so I turned around, back up from where I came. My bike ride was a short 7km... but I was in the big chain ring powering through the last 1.5-2km or so... can we say LEG BURN?
Ahh.... I love it!
campfire goodness
Just another Manic Monday
weights and shopping
I taught my Body PUMP
class this morning. I invited my girlfriend Bryanne to come. She had a great time!!! And afterwards we went shopping for MAC-up
... (make-up... but I call it MAC-up, because I really love MAC make-up.)
We were both exhausted by 2:00pm!!!
So now I am home... on this beautiful sun shiney
day... tired, looking to take a nap.
C'est ma vie!!!
living a lie?
You mean, fish sauce really
is made of fish???

is made of fish???

Yes, it's true! I was out for Vietnamese last night and I have been intrigued by this bowl of 'liquid goodness' that they bring you with your vermicelli bowl... so I asked "What is this called?" The waiter replied "Fish Sauce." (Which I already knew...) Then I proceeded to ask "Is it really made of fish? ... anchovies?", He said "Yes, as well as other ingredients."

...nothing new... yet
Hump Day
Just a basic boring day do far... well, I did get a FULL PAGE long email from
mon Pois
today... that started things off right!!
I sure do miss him...
:(
Other than that... got a few jobs to do at work today... feeling quite underwhelmed at work lately. It sux, but I think I can manage. Hey, it gives me more time to BLOG!
:D hehe
(update: And no sooner do I mention I have no work to do... do I get 3 RUSH jobs... all required for tomorrow!!!) Gawd... Murphy... why does your law have to be this way???
I'm going out with a friend who I haven't seen in a long time tonight. We normally go for pub grub somewhere, but since I can't really eat that stuff for a while, I don't know where we'll go. (She got a new BF this summer, and has been spening A LOT of time with him... which is her perrogative... but I think the last time I saw her was at her BBQ that she had in August! I'm sure it's been over a month since we've hung out. (Oh well... she's the one that doesn't drive anyways... so it just saves me from having to be her chauffeur!)
Ok, just had lunch, now it's off to "brosse mes dents"!
Ever bite your tooth before?
OUCH
My braces have officially been on for 2 weeks today... and I think my front teeth are finally moving today because I woke up in some serious tooth pain... and I have been having trouble biting properly ever since. (If I even attempt to bite down, somehow one of my front teeth gets in the way and I end up biting it instead! It hurts like a biotch! I had to cut my workout today short because I did this, and I was almost in tears it felt so bad!!!)
I am starting to feel very handicapped... I almost wish they would just wire my mouth shut!!! :?
Even drinking out of my water bottle at the gym was driving me insane! If the nozzle of the water bottle came even remotely close to my front teeth... YOWZA... not a good feeling at all. (Guess I'm gonna have to stop drinking from my water bottle while running on the treadmill, eh?)

The picture I promised of my Siamese Fighting fish (Beta):

His name is Angelo... He's very pretty, don't you think?
Family Weekend
I miss all the noise

I never thought I'd say it, but I kinda miss all the noise and excitment that goes on at the Meeks household in Leduc (especially when my Dad is home! he he) But, perhaps I only enjoy it in small doses... I can imagine more than a month of that being tiresome! I've also been single (living alone) for almost a year now... that get's tiresome too. I miss having someone to talk to... I've started talking to my fish, Angelo... and my plants!!! It's quite pathetic. I need a friend!
Anyways, I am into my 2nd week with my braces on... I must say, it's getting a lot easier now then it was the first week! I'm actually getting brave and attempting to eat some solid foods (well, the are semi-solid... I had my Mom make Shepard's Pie on the weekend... that was a treat. There's nothing like Mom's home cooking!)
Well, it's back to the grind today... and we're getting drizzling snow here in Calgary... how sad is that? It's not even into October yet, and already snowing! :o We have all the luck... boo hoo
:(
Well, all I can say is, make the best of it... Cuddle up to someone you know will keep you warm... I'll cuddle up with my register.
CYA
winding down the week
Friday...Yay!
Yup, the weekend is finally here! Time to relax :) Actually, I plan on going up to Leduc this weekend to visit my parents. My Dad (http://squirrely.tblog.com) is going to be home this weekend, so I'm excited! I don't get to see him very often!!! Maybe he'll be able to get my old CD deck working and be able to install it into my car... I have been without a cd player in my car for too long now :( And Calgary radio is getting awful! :P Enjoy your weekend! :P
Looking forward to my dentist appointment!
I was looking forward to my dentist appointment all day... I couldn't wait to ask my orthodontist all the new questions I had... Well, to my surprise, she even shaved off the little bumps she had put in my mouth to prevent my bite from going too deep (and potentially knocking off a bracket or two)... so now my teeth are free of those bite stoppers. However, I still can't make a full bite (my molars do not touch :( ) Still on the liquid diet...
On other news, it's the Survivor season premier tonight!!! Yippeee!!!! I'm so excited! That's my favorite show, so it's gonna be a good night!
:D Keep Smiling... and show some teeth! :D
...feeling festive?
... so I was feeling sorry for myself, thinking that Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I will not be able to eat any of my beloved Pumpkin Pie. :( (You know, because of my braces, and not being able to chew...) But in my travels on the internet looking for fun and interesting ways to eat soft food, I came across a recipe for a Pumpkin Pie Smoothie!!! (It was like drinking a real piece of the pie!)
Here's the Recipe:
1/2 cup canned Pumpkin
1 cup milk
1/2 cup Vanilla Ice Cream
Dash of Cinnamon
1 tsp. Vanilla extract
Combine all igredients in a blender and blend. Makes about 2 servings.
A variation of the smoothie

A drink of Peanut Butter?? :?
I never thought I'd use this ingredient in a drink, but when you can't chew, you'll try anything to spice up your food intake.
I made the Peanut Butter Smootie last night. http://www.bhg.com/bhg/recipe/recipedeta il.jhtml?recipeId=38457" title="http://www.bhg.com/bhg/recipe/recipedeta il.jhtml?recipeId=38457" target="_blank"http://www.bhg.com/bhg/recipe... I must say, it was more than enjoyable. It was like drinking Reese's Peices... Heavenly! I recommend you all try it!
(Afterwards, I was still craving peanut butter, so I proceeded to dip into the jar with my finger! I've also never done that before, but it sure was satisfying... Mmm Skippy PB is the best!!!)
No more teeth talk... for a while
Momma needed a New pair of Shoes
...about as much as Momma needed two holes in her head, but she got 'em both! :? I never thought I'd buy a pair of shoes like this... but they were just so dang cool! What do you think?
I bet I could play soccer in these ;) Or how about a step class? Oh yeah! 8)
... the pain, the pain!!!
How come I thought this wasn't gonna hurt?
I'm really seeing the light now. Braces aren't as much fun as I thought they'd be. I seriously didn't expect them to be so painful, and irritating to my mouth. What did I expect??? I dunno... but NOT this!!!
Yesterday, I was ready to lose it because I was in so much pain. My top braces were rubbing the inside of my lips raw!!! I was in tears when I got home from the Golf Tourney. I'm such a wuss.
I really hope my lips get used to this type of abrasive contact and toughen up, otherwise this is going to be a hellish 2 years with braces!!!
Day #2 with new teeth
The Joys of Dental Appliances
You can't eat properly, your jaw aches, you feel like you have lips like McJaggar... it's ridiculous! I even took a Tylenol 3 this morning thinking it would take the edge off... but no... my mouth has been aching since 8 this morning. :( Imagine, a throbbing, dull ache: the one's that will eventually drive you insane! (Let's just say, this is going to be a long 2 years!!!)
Today was my first day back to work with my new chompers, so I had to show them off... I went all around the floor looking for people to show. Most of my collegues are on holidays right now... so are they in for a treat when they return :) He he. Like they really care about the state of my teeth...
So, tomorrow is the Annual Medicine Hat Buisness Unit Golf Tournament... basically a good reason to drink all day on company time, in my opinion. It is always a great time... this year the weather looks like it's not gonna cooperate, so it'll even be more about the drinking to stay warm  ... he he. Have a great weekend everybody, even if the weather is pissy.
Brace Yourself!!!
My new temporary Smile

Just call me "Brace Face"... that's me.
I just had the brackets put on today.

my teeth - September 8th, 2004
All I can say is WOW, they are BIG... I didn't realize my lips would protrude so much... I thought they would be less noticeable... :( Well, unfortunately, they are large, and half metal... so they are more noticeable than I had hoped... maybe once things start to move, they will all line up better and not look so wacked!!! And right now I can't even bite normally, because my teeth are so over-bitten, so I have these little bite guards behind my top front teeth, which prevent my back teeth from touching... Liquid diet for me for a while! Gotta love that!
What'dya think??? I look like a teenager!
... alone yet again :(
Here and gone: all in the same day?
Geeze! So much anticipation for David to come... so much preparation, so much of everything was put into waiting for him to visit and now, it feels like he was here and gone all in the same day! :( Almost like I am more alone now than I was before he got here... (Maybe because I was keeping myself occupied by doing all the running around and cleaning for his visit.) Now that he's gone, what do I have to look forward to? our MSN chats? Webcamming? :? ... it just isn't the same!
But I must say we sure did enjoy the 3 days that we did spend together. I took him to the Calgary Zoo... that was probably the highlight of his visit. I didn't really want to go spending a lot of money, cause I know we are both on a rather tight budget these days. (but I don't think we really cared what we were doing, as long as we were together... that was really what this visit was all about.) We also went for a burger at "Peter's Drive-In"... if you ever talk to a Calgarian, they will say "you MUST go to Peter's for a burger".... well, neither I nor David were very impressed with our food from Pete's... it had no kick: Not satisfying at all!!! I personally don't recommend it. Save your $$$ and go somewhere like "Julio's Barrio" (mexican) or "Thanh Truc" (vietnamese) ... Just my 2 cents on that.
I really wanted to take him up to the top of the Calgary Tower for a bird's eye view of the City, but I forgot my access card (that I needed to get up for free) so we came home to pick it up, but we got sidetracked by trying to reformat my computer. (I have been hit by the Sasser Worm... but luckily David is smart, and he downloaded a firewall for me, so now whenever some jerk tries to access my computer, I can block them!!) This is only a temporary solution to this problem... does anyone else have any ideas to get rid of this worm once and for all???
I will post pictures soon!!! I took LOTS! :D

Today is THE day!!!
The long weekend is finally here! And you know what this means? David is coming today!!! 9:30pm is when I pick him up from the airport :) I've been waiting for today since I got on the ferry to leave him in Vancouver, so I have been vibrating all day! :D (I woke up at 6:00am!!!)
I think I will bring him a flower and give it to him at the airport... wouldn't that be a romantic gesture? To let him know I really care about him, and have been missing him... or do guys not really get the whole "flower" thing? I think David will... he's emotional like that. :)
this is what I look like right now... do you think I'll impress him?
Teeth update: Well, my teeth are all still sore. Chewing is ... well, let's say "interesting"... I've found interesting ways to get food down to my belly, that's for sure. (A girl's gotta eat ) I took a Tylenol 3 last night, just so I would sleep uninterrupted and I did! I took another Tylenol 3 today, just to take any edge off... but I really am not in any pain. Just uncomfortable, and the whole not being able to eat solid food. :? I'm sure I'll forget all about that come 9:30 tonight  I'll be gettin' a little sumthin-sumthin' else... who needs food??? He he...
Have a wonderful night everyone... I will be!
UPDATE
The curse strikes again... Davids flight is delayed because of "mechanical troubles", so now hopefully he will be arriving here after 10:00. Grrrr... why does this always happen to us?
... extractions are NO FUN!
Well, my sister steered me wrong. She was trying to put my mind at ease by saying "Oh Jessica, the extractions will be easy. The freezing takes longer than it takes to pull a tooth." ... OH REALLY? Care to take a wager on that?
Well, an hour and a half later, I have two big holes in my head and a completely frozen upper mouth. (I also proceeded to faint when the dentist said to me "I am just going to give you a needle in the roof of your mouth now... it's going to hurt more than the other needles." ... ya, that was fun! :? ) After she got the first one out, she took an xray of the other one, to make sure his roots were straight... she ended up sawing it in half and taking it out peice by peice. Yummers! I get teeth pulled and drilled all in the same visit! Nice! :(
Jenny, I think you are right, I cannot handle child birth... wanna be my womb? LOL Needles an I just don't mix well.
My mouth feels and looks like hell right now. I need some sleep.
Later Yall... take care of your teeth, the ones you still have left :)

Lovely hole, aint it? How beautiful am I??!!
