Nanaimo awaits MOI!

Barely a day left to wait... then it's time to hop on a plane headed for SUNNY Nanaimo, BC... :P I am so pumped... I can't wait! I haven't seen my sister http://islandartist.tblog.com... for what feels like ages!!! It will be soo good to play with Paige too. (I miss the little Poopitz!!!)

And this holiday gets an infusion of excitement, when on Saturday evening I take a ferry over to Vancouver to meet David. (Yes, plans changed. Originally he was going to come to Nanaimo to see me... then we decided it would be easier for me to Ferry back to Vancouver to see him.) :? I am so anxious to meet him. I have received so many pictures, videos, webcam, and phone calls from him... but I just can't believe it's actually happening!!! I think we are going to have a wonderful time together... I have to head back to Nanaimo on the Ferry on Tuesday :( S'ok, back to play with Jenny and Paige.

This is a picture of David... he's such a cutie!

My French Canadian Pea

It's happened again... the roller coaster of Love that I like to call it, is back on it's way up! :D

I met a guy, named David... off the interet. We've been talking A LOT for the past week (on-line, and on the phone)... He's from Newbrunswick, originally, but now lives in Vancouver :? (I know, I know... I am not looking for another long distance relationship.) I am planning to meet him in Naniamo, when I go up to visit my sister (Island_Artist) and brother-in-law (And of course, peanut #1; Paige) So, We'll see... I'm not looking for too much out of this... isn't that when things usually just "fall into place"? Let's hope they do... because I can already feel myself "falling". (So typical of me!)

Also, this pro mountain biker guy emailed me out of the blue... really serious about meeting me. He left me his cel number, and I couldn't help but call him back. I got his voice mail and do you know what it said? "I am not at home right now, because I am on my bike".... LOVE it!!! He called me back, and now we are playing phone tag... phone tag with a stranger, fun! :?

Anyways... I will keep ya'll posted. :!: My love life has sprung up again. :!:

Truing a wheel

Not an easy task.
We learnt how to do it today in "Tunes" class. Gawd, I just couldn't get my head around the concept of the damn spokes! You have to turn then opposit than you would if you were turning a wrench (lefy loosy, righty tighty)... But for truing, it's lefty tighty, righty loosy :? Ack... I'm so confused!
I found a good little website explaining this job: http://mountainbiking.itgo.co... So if anyone has a wobbly wheel... you have the know-how to attempt to straighten it out for yourself. I love to be independant!

The week long GAP

I assume you all were wondering "What happened to Jessica? Did she die? or fall off the face of the earth?" No and No. It is Stampede week here in Calgary, and I've been super busy at work... even too busy to email sometimes :o It's getting bad!

Also, I am taking a bike maintenance class this week (called "Tunes") at The Bike Shop. So far we have learned how to adjust and clean out brakes (V and Disc), and how to clean and break a chain. Tonight we are learning all about derailleurs (the most sensitive aspect of a bike, in my opinion). I can't wait! I really want to know how to make minor adjustments to make my bike purrr like a kitten.

And tomorrow, I am off to Canmore. It's finally time : 24 Hours of Adrenaline!
WOW... All the training, and practice hopefully pays off... not to mention how much fun I hope we have. Fingers crossed for NO injuries! Tomorrow we set up camp, pre-ride the course, and mingle with the other bikers/campers in the evening... in the morning, we ride, ride, ride!!! Yeee Haw!

Free Concert GONG SHOW

I forgot how short I am, and how hard it is to see at FREE CONCERTS... (especially at a Stampede concert, with all the Cowboy hats standing in front of you  )

Well, I didn't think I'd end up going to the concert because my girl friend bailed on me, almost last minute... :( But luckily Mario (MR. "I want to be single") called me back and wanted to go too. So I went down there with him... we had fun! Eventhough neither he or I could really see much of anything... they sounded good (but needed to be louder!). I really wanted to see Stevo, but couldn't so Mario picked me up so I could see him... He was wearing big Aviator glasses! (Those always make me laugh!)

Yeehhawww! Stampede time again!

Where are your Wranglers?

Yep, it's that time of year again. The greatest outdoor show on earth: the Calgary Stampede!!! :)

Good times... expect to spend lots of money on food and bevvies though :(

I was down there yesterday... my GOD, some girls wear absolutely NO clothing out! I am going again tonight to see SUM 41 (can't wait) so I'll try to catch some fashion victims and post them later.

Rollercoaster... of Love

Well, it's happened again. My date (Mario) has given me the blow off. I don't know what's wrong with me...

This time I got: "I think you are looking for a long term relationship, and I am not" ... as well as "It's not you, it's me!" Geeze, I got 2 speaches for the price of one.

Then he continued to say "You know, I'm not trying to get rid of you... I just don't want to lead you on." I actually appreciate that he was Man enough to tell me these things, but as emotional as I am, I can't help but be a bit sad about the whole thing. I really liked him, and don't understand why he doesn't want to be with me.

What's a single girl to do now? Go get drunk at Stampede, that's what! :(

Weeds... and not the good kind!

Eye-Sore no more!!! :)

Rita came over tonight... I bought Vietnamese take-out for supper. A treat for the undertaking we were about to persue...
my weedy backyard! :?

Check it out... not pretty.

(Can you tell I hate domestic chores?)

So Rita and I had at 'er. She brought her weed whipper, and her mower... Gawd knows we needed all the help we could get. Well, we couldn't get the whipper to go  ...maybe our "girlieness" shining through... so we decided to pick... uh, PULL, all the weeds. UGH. Hamstrings are going to be screaming tomorrow!!!

Rita in her sexiest weed-pulling pose!

And Rita couldn't get the mower to go either... she was pulling like a... dare I say, "girl"... so I had to have a crack at the mower... "VAROOOMMMM"... started like a top! Damn, I'm strong! Nah... she just primed it for me! :P He he he.

Exciting evening, non? Here's the remains of the weeds... Die you mother suckers!!!

In other news, I have been feeling crafty lately... I made a new necklace. I bought some Abalone from the last Rock and Gem show I went to and they started calling my name as soon as I opened my bead kit! Have a peak... you likey?

You like, You buy!

Have a good night Ya'll.

Canada Day, Fernie and Sushi...
(not all in one day )

Well, Happy Belated Canada Day to you all!!! I am a proud Canadian!!!

I was on my way into Fernie BC when the fireworks were on, we caught the tail end of their show... not to impressive, but still a good time! I love fireworks! :p

Fernie was beautiful,

Not us... but imagine riding on bridges like this! On a BIKE!!! We did!!!

... except for the weather! It pissed rain on us everyday we were out there!!! I was really hoping for sun... oh well. We did manage to get one short cross-country bike ride in on Friday, and a day of sketchy downhill riding on Saturday. (By sketchy I mean, dangerous... think muddy trails, slippery tree roots and rocks... no pads, and high speeds. Disaster waiting to happen!!!) Luckily we only had one real disaster. My friend Brian took a pretty nasty spill over his handlebars... he bruised his hand and gouged a hole in his knee. I will NEVER go downhill riding in the rain again... at least not without full body armor!!! I managed to slip and bump my head too... not fun! THANK GOD FOR HELMETS!

And Sushi... I went out for all you can eat Sushi tomight with Rita. Ok, now I gotta tell you... I HATE fish. It makes me sick to think people actually eat it cause they want to!!! :? Rita assured me that I didn't have to eat anything fishy if I didn't want to. She was right... there was a lot of things on the menu that aren't fishy at all... (But A LOT that are too!!!) I enjoyed the Kappa-Maki:
(sticky rice wrapped in sea weed with Cucumber inside)

... but I can't say that I'd ever crave the stuff. I prefer my Western Cuisine... does that make me close-minded?

Anyways, my bed is calling me! I am tired. Tomorrow... weed whipping, mowing and spraying "Round Up" in my back yard. Pictures? YES! I finally bought a new battery recharger. No more excuses!
