I have a bunch of pitures of Rossland to DL but no time!!! Rossland was beautiful... so much rock and trees! Mountaineers hay-day for sure! I can't wait to get out there and tear up the bike trails... Did you know Rossland is the Mountain Biking Capital of Canada? Neither did I till this weekend!

Anyways, work beccons... and I have to go vote tonight. Then off to Fish Creek. Bike rides are so fun!!!

Bikes and GOOD Friends!

Sounds like I'm off to Rossland BC for the weekend... should be interesting. I am going to help a girl friend move (Rita)... I'm quite sad to see her leave. She and I have become fast friends ever since we met each other last year... we bike together every chance we get!!!

She's moving because the opportunity arose, and she thought "I have nothing holding me here in Calgary! OPEN my HORIZONS!!!"... And off she goes to Rossland. Leaving me in her dust... :cry:

I know we will keep in touch, but it just won't be the same. I love having her a short drive away... makes being a single girl not quite so lonely.

Friends are awesome! Don't ever forget that!!!

My goodness! What is wrong with me? Am I mental!?? (Please, don't answer that! :wink:)

Anyways, that's how I felt yesterday when Mario and I went for our bike ride. We were planning on doing Powderface trail, which I thought was a basic loop, pretty easy to follow, right!? ... not so much.

We ended up on a different trail than I thought we'd be taking, so we ended up riding 4km MORE than anticipated. (22k total, to be exact!) I felt like quite the idiot... Mario must think I'm some moron. (What kind of geologist can't read a map???) :( But hey, I told him I'd never completed the loop before and that I didn't know what we were getting ourselves into.... In the end, it was worth the effort, because we only had to climb for about 6 (LONG, steep) km, the other 14-16 km were all either downhill or rolling cross-country. :D

It rained today, again. Wet, muddy trails... geeze, this is getting ridiculous. I think I spend more time cleaning my bike than I do riding it!!!

Dad's are special!

My dad is the best... he fixed my car this weekend, made us BBQ steak-ka-bobs, and will just about do anything for his kids! :)

...biking update

Yesterday evening, rode Sulphur Springs trail backwards (meaning counter clockwise)with Rita, her sister Rochelle, Brian, JVD and Don. Fun times... finished off the ride with a celebratory drink (Rita sold her house, she is moving to Rossland, BC :() Finished 'er off at the Bragg Creek pub for nachos. YUMMY!
Will add pictures once developed (yes, All I had was my disposable camera, no digi's :()

That's too bad that your biking friend might move....I am sure you'll find another person to ride with. Equally as bad is your friend who wants to bow out of the 24 hrs of adrenalin....people don't keep their word these days. Strangely enough one of the guys from the Calgary EMS team is on the brink of bowing out too....so I was asked to replace him if he does. Hopefully he does.....we'll have to see. I might be chasing you around the trails....that would be fun. You'll probably be passing by me as I'm yelling "Jessica...can you help me fix my front deraileur!!"

Every wednesday night I teach Body PUMP at a local gym... so tonight is PUMP night. Yippee. The class is usually FULL, so it's nice to see so many willing participants ready for me to whip them into shape!

In other news, I tried to get my speeding ticket (the one where the cop wrote the wrong date on it) revoked today. I went all the way to the "Provincial Courts" building... She said "You can't do anything till the date of the court appearance"... :evil: I hope that is correct... I hate having this stupid ticket looming over my head!

No Bike Ride :(

We had to postpone our weekly Monday ride for next monday, as the weather was awful yesterday... Heavy rain, thunder and lightning... the whole bit! Oh well... gave me a reason to hang out with Mario :wink: Yes, he came over again last night. He starts day shifts again today... tonight might be the last time we get to see each other till Sunday! (Paramedics work funny shifts: 2 days on days, 2 days on nights, 4 days off (of which you normally sub a day)) But so far, Mario and I have managed to spend a lot of quality time together... it's been wonderful! :D

Next adventure... Telephone Trail Part 2 - after the rain.

No camping... but mud ride was fun :)

Camping plans got all screwed. I didn't end up going (besides, it was so cold and muddy! Kinda turned me off the idea!) But yesterday Mario and I did got for a super fun mud ride on Sulphur Springs trail! It's a 13k loop, which normally takes about 1.5 hours to ride... it took us 2.5 hours yesterday!!! Mud makes you ride slower... it was pretty crazy out there (roots are very slippery when wet!!!) Anyways, we made it out alive, but covered in mud from head to foot! Soo Sexy! :wink:

And since no camping, no pictures of Mario... :( Sorry to get your hopes up. I will get one soon... he did make mention that he wanted a picture of me. Awe... so cute!

To camp, or not to camp?

It's raining, wet, cold today... camping just doesn't sound all that exciting to me right now. And I got woken up this morning with cramps... ladies, you can relate. I'm not a happy camper today.

I think I will wait to go camping till tomorrow, when my body has adjusted to this state.

On a happier note, last night's MUD ride was fantastic! We got out to the trail head, just after a little rain shower had come through the area, so it was very fresh, and muddy! Nice! We completed the trail in about 2 hours... not bad considering the trail conditions and a few bails :P
Our timing was impeccable, cause as we got back to the cars, the clouds opened up and literally dumped buckets of water on us! It started to down pour!!! We finished the ride off perfectly, at a local Bragg Creek pub. Sweet!

Thursday, Mud ride! :P

I taught my Body PUMP http://www.bodytrainingsystem... class last night... it went well, as usual. (I teach every Wednesday evening) But I was really wanting to be on my bike.

I had to bring my bike in for servicing as the last ride I took it out on, it wouldn't hold a gear :( The first year of servicing is FREE on all new bikes, so this one ain't gonna cost me a thing. Usually I do my own repairs, but I thought, "What the hell! It's FREE!" :P I think my cables stretched since I bought it (in April) so yeah, it just needed some TLC.

Mario is working his 2 night shifts now... last night was his first. I was thinking I'd welcome the break... you know, cause we have been seeing a lot of each other lately... But actually, I kinda missed him! :?

I have an appointment with the orthodontist today (Do you think I need braces???)

Campin'.... Yeah!

I am getting myself stoked for camping with Karie and the girls this Friday to Sunday... Can't wait to get out in those mountains and get a fire going. (I think I'm a bit of a pyro... :)) We're also bringing the bikes... hope to get a few rides in too.

Mario has shown interest in coming, however he has to work a night shift on Saturday :( But that's ok, he will be coming out on Friday, so I'm happy.

... Yes, things are going well between us. We seemed to click pretty quickly... how do you explain that? I didn't at all expect it actually... it feels strange to be getting so much attention from the opposite sex. But it's about time !!! (And not just ANY one either... a cute, smart, active guy to boot :P) I'm a pretty lucky girl.

Note to self... need to bring the camera this weekend and "candidly" snap some pictures of Mario. He he he I want you all to see him!!

Stanley Cup was awarded to the wrong team!

Yup... they forgot to count one goal in game 6. The Flames would have won it! Unfortunately, that's not how things played out last night... the Lightning walked away with a 2-1 victory to take the cup away... Booo. Oh well, there is always next year.

All I can say was the Flames gave us one helluva ride! The road to the cup this year was fantastic... every playoff game was a thrill to watch! You might even hear me exclaim "Go Flames Go" next year... :wink:

My head is still spinning!

Ain't is great when you find someone that you connect with!? I think I have finally found my someone like that. :D (It's about time!!!)

Mario and I spent all day together yesterday... it was great! We started off by going to Eau Claire for a few games of air hockey (yes, I let him win... everyone loves a good ego stroke! :wink:) then to 'The Garage' for some lunch. Then on our way out of the restaurant, he grabbed my hand, and we walked out of the place holding hands.... AWE, so cute!

We decided to go rent a movie and make some supper at his place. We rented "Duplex" with Ben Stiller and Drew Barrymore... needless to say I couldn't tell you how it ended! :wink: Didn't pay attention to it for that long... We had a pretty serious make-out during the movie... it was fantastic. He's such a great kisser!!! :)

We proceeded to make supper pretty late (9:30pm)... He's Italian, so he can cook! Just what I need :) We had chicken breast, asparagus wrapped in Parchuto Parma (excellent!!!) and roasted baby potatoes... YUM! It's really fun cooking with someone, even though I sometimes felt like I was trying to get him to cook the way "I" wanted him to cook... bad girl.

We hung out for a few more hours... I didn't leave till 1:15 am! It was all sooo worth it!

I can't wait to get a picture of us to show you all! I'm sure we're a pretty cute couple! :D

Me and the girls... Rita, Stephanie and Dina... all single BTW... headed out to the "Kilt and Caber" yesterday for game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals between OUR Calgary Flames and the dirrty rotten scoundrels Tampa Bay Lightning. Started off with a few Vodka Paralysers... you know, as primers! :wink: The crowd was energized! The Flames lead the series 3 to 2 and they could have clinched the cup in this game, a HOME game to boot!

Well, as the game unfolded, after 60 minutes we had a tie game at 2 all. After a stressful first overtime set (another 20 minutes) still no resolution. That came in the first 10 seconds of the second overtime when some jerk from the Tampa team, ripped one into Kipper's net.... grrrrrrrrrr. :evil: We were all stunned and WAY dissapointed!!!

Needless to say, that wasn't the ending I was hoping for. Now there is a forced game 7 on Monday in Tampa. The Flames play very well on their away games... let's hope they can fight hard and bring home the cup!!!!!!

Date #3

Well, Mario and I have planned to get together today... he worked a night shift last night (he's a paramedic!) So, he wanted to get some sleep. He told me to call him around noon... I wanted to go to the Zoo... but it's a bit rainy and cold out today. A little bit of thunder too... :? Maybe it's time for a movie date!?? (I was thinking Shrek 2) Any ideas?

Wish me luck! I'm sure whatever we do, it'll be fun! :)

So not all boys are so bad...

So, I met this guy over the internet. I had seen his picture, thought he was pretty cute, so we scheduled a weekday bike ride so I could show him a few XC trails... and just get out for some fresh air. Well, I think my aloofness paid off this time. I had no expectations for this date, just that I was going to be on my bike, so no matter how dull, freaky, smelly this guy turned out to be, I would have fun either way because I'd be on my bike. Well... he turned out to be NORMAL!!! :D .... to be continued...

OK, I'm back for a bit... ok, what I meant was that I haven't been having the greatest luck at on-line dating :( I was beginning to give up hope really... I just thought I'd humor him by riding with him one night. (I mean, who wouldn't want to ride with a cute chicka like me!?? :wink: )

We rode all evening... met him at 7:00pm, we rode till 8:00, then stopped and chatted for about 1/2 an hour! It was super fun! We didn't get back to our cars till 9:30ish... so he invited me for dinner... I'm thinking, "With my helmet head!?? ...He must like me! :? " So, we went to Chili's. Had some quesedillas... great conversation... it was awesome!

We left the restaurant at 11:00pm... and he said "Give me a hug" :P So I did! :) Aweeeeeeeeee.... so cute.

I even gave him my cel #, so he can get a hold of me... as we are planning on riding again tomorrow. :)

I'll let you know how that goes... should be fun! WOO HOO.
