So, Karie and I took off for a leisurely ride through some off-road in Silver Springs (NW Calgary) tonight. Started off beautifully... and couldn't have asked for better weather! But of course it just wouldn't be a proper ride without a good bail... well, this one was a bail alright, but I wouln't at all say it was a good one. :( My handlebars got caught up on a tree... which jammed my handlebars to the left and sent me flying over the right side... jarring my left arm into the ground (to brace my fall)... OUCH. :cry: I'm not so happy about that. Good thing I'm taking a weeks vacation... sounds like I need it about now.

I am taking the next week off to go visit my parents in Leduc Alberta. My sister and brother-in-law will also be coming out to visit... it will be great, like a mini-family reunion... (except my family ain't so mini!!! my parents had 5 kids!) I am sooo thrilled to see Paige again. I miss that little poopitz.

Crazy Alberta Weather

Geeze, who would have thunk with such a gorgeous afternoon, that the evening would be so miserable! :( Well, I had a biking date, and I was not about to bail on it! I left work early cause I had to go home, get all my gear and meet Andrew out at Edworthy Park. (Remember, this is my first ride on my new Kona! :P )

I got to the bottom of the hill and I barely recognized Andrew. All dudded up in his biking attire... yummy. (I've always had a thing for a guy in a helmet and biking shoes :wink: ) So we started off to Bowness Park... the wind pushing us back the whole way there. (I was very impressed with the minimal amount of whining about the wind on both our parts.) He let me ride first... I got to play tour guide. It was so fun to be the first rider. I should do that more often.

We rode about 6k out (not far, but tough in the wind, and on dirt trails) and got to the top of one cliff... the wind was absolutely brutal!!! So I decided to give the poor guy a break, and we headed back. (I usually get really competitive on first dates.) I talked Andrew into taking a trail that lead to no where... he basically fell into a hole. :o I felt bad... for about 2 seconds. :wink: It was cute to watch him though. I hope we hang out more.

And today I will be going out with a guy from work's girlfriend. She is from the East Coast and is very energetic and a lot of fun! We might go roller blading, or maybe just hang out. We'll see.

I work as a geological technologist with a large oil and gas corporation, here in Calary. (I love my job! :P)

Sore legs, bruised knees :(

Yup, my knees took a beating yesterday on the slopes... but I tell ya, way better than falling on your ass a gabillion times! Next time I wear knee pads! :P

Today is mellow... I worked out at lunch, ate, now I could go for a nap. I need to conserve some energy for my bike ride on Tuesday. Me and Andrew are going to tear it up at Bowness Park... should be fun!

What a day!!!

Ever have one of those days that is going soooo goood, then soooo bad, then soooo good again? Well, that's what today was. A roller coaster, I tell ya! :?

First off, this morning rocked! Me and a girl friend Karie headed out to Sunshine Ski hill for one last attempt to board... spring skiing there is excellent. This morning the hills were quite, we pretty much had the run of the joint! It was nice! (I even rode a super crazy steep! And made a turn on my board! :D Karie was impressed... I'll keep working on that!)

Then it was 2:00 and we decided to head home... so, ok. We're driving along, almost home (20 mins or so) and this cop speeds up behind me; cherries a-blazin'. So I pulled over in the hopes that he's pass me and catch some other fool for speeding, but alas... it was me he was after :cry: I pulled over, he gave me a ticket, I was sad (pissed!)... As I sat there fuming... (I swear steam was coming from the top of my head) my friend Karie was like "Bummer... let me see that ticket, when is your court date?" We look... he wrote the wrong date on the ticket! :) He wrote "June 24/04" as todays date and as the court date... His mistake is my gain! ... so I'm off the hook... for now. Until l I speed again...

.. Did you know that the price for a speeding ticket in Alberta has gone up???? I was going 137 in a 110 zone and the ticket was for $160!!!!! Brutal.

Isn't it a beauty??? I just picked it up today. It's called a Kona Caldera www.konaworld.com... a hardtail (meaning no rear suspension) XC (cross-country) mountain bike. The Kona's are known for their super light frame, so I know I'm going to have a lot of fun on this thing!!! And check it out: hydraulic disc brakes, and all Shimano components. LUV IT!

I would really like to spend more time with Andrew, so I've invited him to come out to the Calgary Zoo http://www.calgaryzoo.org with me on Sunday... it's supposed to be very beautiful out that day too. I think it would make a wonderful setting for a date.

So, it was my friend Rita's birthday last night, and we all agreed to hit this bar called "the Ranchmans" (yes, it was a total country bar!) I thought "No problem... how bad could it be?" .... worse than you could imagine! There was a live band playing, so the music was HARDCORE country (is that possible?) ALL NIGHT!!! :roll: I needed to give my head a shake when we left that joint!

I will post pics as they start rolling in ;)

So much to do at work this week... that's what happens when you are trying to get 5 days worth of work done in only 4!!! :? Ah.. but long weekends certainly are welcome! :)

Yesterday was gorgeous out. +17oC, I couldn't waste the day. So Rita and I went out to Sideshow Bob for a little conquering. (Side Show BOB is a local bike trail... along the cut bank of the Bow River... it's like riding on a cliff!) Well, we did ride it, but it still had the last laugh :(One of these days we'll be able to ride it complete with no putting our feel down... one of these days!!!) :P

And today is a easy breezy ride in Fish Creek. I'll update the post when I get back. It's a beautiful +23oC today... time to work on my tan ;)

UPDATE...
Well, I'm back from my ride... again, such a wicked day. The trails are super dry for spring time riding... too dry actually. They are so soft, they literally give out beneth you... a little freaky if you ask me! :?

And of course, what would a ride be without a good bail? Both Karie and I had some gooders. I scraped my left shin, she bashed her right calf with her chain ring. Gotta love blood :P So, we look super purdy right now. :D All in a days ride... :wink:

One of my falls yesterday was head first into the mountain... can we say "FACE PLANT"? :oops: Yeah, so today my neck feels as stiff as a board (shoulder checks are brutal!) :(

I am actually exhausted... need a nap... which is a shame because it's +13oC out today, I should be on my bike. But you need energy for that. :wink:

Today went snow boarding at Sunshine Ski Hill in Banff Alberta. HOLY COW, it was a gorgeous day... bought a disposable camera and everything... but FORGOT IT in the car at the bottom of the hill :( Ughhhhhhhhhh... sorry, no pics this time. :oops:

It was a sweet day though, it was my 3rd time out on a board, but I totally "got it" today. (You gotta use your back leg to steer!!! DUHHHHHHHHH :wink: ) It was sweet! (Oh, man, some really hot guys out too :p) Again, no pics... only in my head. Oh, they were dreamy.

So this is just another day in the life of me. It was a gooder :D

Well, today I went in for a filling, only to end up getting my teeth cleaned instead. Apparently they want me to get a crown... :x, they said with dollar signs in their eyes.

I've decided that the most annoying sound in the world is that of the water pik they use to break up the plaque on your teeth... :shock:

Ah well... what we do for a pretty smile :D
